Schedule of Basic Reserve Training classes:

The night Basic Reserve Program runs from 6:00PM – 9:00PM on Monday, Tuesdays, Thursdays and every other Saturday. Our fall schedule is as follows:

Class #1 – Begins September 13, 2010 with Orientation. The first class session is scheduled for October 4, 2010.
Tuesday & Thursday from 6PM-9PM

Class #2 begins February 15, 2011 with Orientation. The first class session is scheduled for March 14, 2011.

Tuition is set at $1200 plus uniforms, books and other training materials. Required texts can be ordered online from Commonwealth Police Service at www.commonwealthpolice.net. Texts include Basic Elements for 2010 and Criminal Procedure for 2010 as well as the Motor Vehicle Law Text. The price for students at SSPI is set at $67.50 for Basic Elements and $67.50 for Criminal Procedure. The Motor Vehicle Law Text will be provided at no cost.

* Classes may be canceled if enrollment is insufficient. Pre-registration is, therefore, essential! Applications should be submitted as early as possible to ensure a class will run as scheduled.

DOCUMENTATION NEEDED PRIOR TO ADMISSION TO THE 120 HOUR PROGRAM

  1. Letter of sponsorship by the Chief or Chief Executive Officer of the sponsoring agency. This letter must be on file to reserve a seat in any class.
  2. Properly executed MPTC Training Application (signed by the Chief Executive Officer and student officer). (original signatures only-no faxed copies will be accepted).
  3. Certification of emergency medical insurance coverage, issued resultant either from employment by the sponsoring agency or from a policy executed by and between the applicant and a private insurance carrier.
  4. No personal checks accepted. Tuition is due on the first night of class.
  5. * Attire – The uniform for the Basic Reserve Program will be announced at Orientation. The dress code for this program will be strictly enforced.
