SSPI strongly discourages student officers from bringing weapons to class. In no case will a weapon be allowed on the property unless the student is in full uniform and possesses a valid Massachusetts License to Carry Firearms.
Occasionally class has to be cancelled due to inclement weather. Students are encouraged to check www.whdh.com for school cancellations.
A 100% refund of tuition will be given if a student withdraws before Orientation. A 50% refund will be given after Orientation and before the first class session. No refunds will be given after the first night of class. All book sales are final.
Attendance is mandatory for all classes. Any class missed must be made up at a MPTC academy within one year. SSPI staff will assist you in this regard. Instructors start class promptly at 6:00PM and students are expected to be on time. Students arriving late should check in with the Training Coordinator before entering the classroom. Excessive tardiness is grounds for dismissal from the program.
Students applying for admission to the Basic Reserve or Reserve In-Service Programs must be sponsored by an agency with statutory arrest power in Massachusetts. Students must have health insurance and present a valid health insurance card at Orientation. A MPTC Application with original signature from the Chief of the sponsoring agency must be on file no later than Orientation. The Basic Reserve Program is a prerequisite for admission to the Reserve In-Service Program. Admission preference is given to SSPI member towns first.
Pre-Registration is essential for planning purposes and is the only way to ensure a class will begin as scheduled.
