345 Hour Basic Reserve

As many of you know the Municipal Police Training Committee and representatives from the regional police academies have been working diligently for months now revamping the Basic Reserve Intermittent Training Program. The old standard of 242 hours has been scrapped and the new program has been increased to 345 hours with an additional 20 hours of firearms instruction. Additionally, uniforms are now mandatory and you will find the program more structured, more professional, and far more comprehensive. Our goal is to provide the reserve officer with all the tools necessary to effectively and safely perform the police function within his or her community.  In the coming weeks we will be posting the complete new curriculum on this site.
Pre-registration is essential so that we can accurately gauge class size and ensure the class is large enough to run. Please contact Training Coordinator Erin Farrell at 508-543-0632 or email basic@sspi.net for more information or if you plan on attending. Completed applications can be faxed to 508-543-0633.  We hope to see you on September 12, 2016!
